Apple is preparing to unveil the new Apple Watch, its first smartwatch, in the coming months, as the tech giant gears up to launch a new line of smartwatches and accessories.
According to a report by MacRumors, Apple is in the process of developing a smartwatch based on the Samsung Gear Live platform, which Apple will unveil this fall, and the next Apple Watch is likely to be based on that platform.
The company also plans to unveil new Apple Watches at a WWDC event this month, though AppleInsider has not been able to confirm the report.
Apple’s first smart watch, the Apple Watch Series 2, was announced in June 2017.
The new model, which will launch with a base price of $349, will have an optical heart rate monitor, wireless charging, an OLED screen and a waterproof design.
The watch also features Apple’s first touch display on the watch face, which makes it possible to quickly scroll through a list of upcoming events or notifications.
Apple Watch Series 3 will launch later this year.
