1/2 Next: Kayla Fisher, 23, is one of those players whose influence on football has been immeasurable.
As she prepares for a possible move to Chelsea, it’s worth asking why the England striker chose to join the English champions ahead of Chelsea’s title defence.
Fisher, who turns 23 in January, has been compared to Wayne Rooney, but her game is far more direct.
Her speed, precision and strength give her an edge over her opponents.
Fisher’s goalscoring record of six makes her the most prolific goal scorer in the Premier League this season and has given her a reputation for being able to beat a player’s back.
In fact, she is often criticised for failing to beat strikers’ back as she did against Manchester United in the FA Cup in October, when she put in a superb performance.
Her performances against Chelsea and the Manchester City team are among the most memorable of her career, and the fact that she is a woman has been a huge factor in her success.

Fisher was voted the most influential player in the world by ESPN in 2015, and it’s a sentiment that is still being reflected on her Twitter account.
Fisher is also one of the few English players to have a female captain, which has helped her rise to the top of the game.
Fisher said in October: “I have always felt that if you’re going to be a female in football, you should be able to have an impact on the game and be a good example for your team-mates and the women in the dressing room.”
3/2 Fisher was named the Premier Footballers’ Association player of the year in 2018 after helping Chelsea to their first league title in over two decades, and while she has never won the Champions league, her career is well on its way.
She was named as one of four players to be awarded the award, along with Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany, Manchester United’s Nani, Manchester City midfielder Ashley Cole and Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil.

I think the Premier league is definitely a place where women are still not given the chance.”

Fisher scored her first goal for Chelsea against Everton on the last day of Chelsea season in November as the Blues secured their second title in two seasons.
Fisher became the first female player to score for Chelsea in the cup competition when she scored in the first leg of their 1-1 draw against Bursaspor in February 2017.
She also scored the winner in the second leg of the UEFA Cup final against Real Madrid.

She joined the squad on the opening day of their World Cup campaign, and won the Women’s World Cup on home soil.
Fisher also scored against Brazil in the final, and scored a penalty against the United States in the quarter-finals.

The England international, who is in her final year of her contract, has won the Golden Boot as the club’s top scorer with 28 goals, the most for a female player in a Premier League season.

She has scored in all but two of Chelsea ‘s Premier League matches this season.
She is the most decorated female player for the Blues, having been named the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year and the European Women’s Cup Player of 2018.

Fisher joined Chelsea from Arsenal in January 2018, but after scoring her first Premier League goal in March 2018, she signed a new deal, which would see her earning £50,000-a-week until 2021.
The deal was subsequently extended by three years, with the new contract set to expire in 2021.
